"Traditional Orthodox Church in Almaty"


The government is trying to promote the Kazakh Language, but with only limited success. Only 40% of the people know this language. Russian is spoken as a first language by 95%, and it is the language of commerce and trade.

Since 1043 Kazakhs have been nominally Sunni Muslims, but they are more animistic Muslim. An Islamic movement is being fuelled by Muslim missionaries from Iran, Turkey, and other Arab countries. There were 60 mosques in 1991. There are now more than 5,000. Christianity is still viewed as the official language of the Russian oppressors.

While the Christian population actually decreased during the 1990's, there has been a significant growth of interest from non-Eurasians as well as indigenous people. Korean churches have grown as have most charismatic, Pentecostal, and some Baptist groups.

"Translation Team"


In September 2009, Lane and Jill Anderson met with a team at Channel New Life in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The purpose was to see how best we can work together to not only lip sync dub 5 InterComm Films into the Russian Language, but to train these talented people to carry on the process. The stated goal of CNL is to not only dub the complete Ken Anderson Films/InterComm Catalog, but other Christian materials thereafter. This will make them leaders in Eastern Europe in lip sync dubbing, as even secular TV dubbing is not very precise and usually poor quality with little regard for actual lip sync.
 


Mr. Vladimir Mikhailenko directs the translation work at CNL. He and the National Kazak Team are already busy at work translating the 5 Ken Anderson Films, specifically chosen by the Team - PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, JOURNEY TO THE SKY, STEP OVER THE EDGE, SPACE SHUTTLE JOURNEY, and JONAH & THE BIG STORM. In fact, the whole team reacted quite enthusiastically to such a Project, praying with us that we can return with a full budget in early 2010.

All titles dubbed will be broadcast by satellite to every major Russian-speaking market - a potential viewership of over 200 million - including all the former Soviet countries, Israel, and the USA. InterComm will also place copies with Nationals interested in Media Evangelism throughout the former Soviet Union and its satellite countries.

Would you please join us in prayer for the spiritual needs of Russian-speaking people. It has been on our hearts to provide Media Tools in the Russian Language since the early 90's. A huge vacuum exists in the hearts of these former communist nationals. Christian media is a great tool to help reach these souls for Christ’s Kingdom. We believe this opportunity is unique, combining TV broadcast and the ususal Media Evangelism opportunities through these regions.
